Yam 150 HPDI has an inlet for flushing the powerhead, threaded male connection on port underside of motor. The male connection is connected to a female, which feeds a rubber tube that leads into lower unit.

Questions:

1. Hook garden hose to male OR female connection, should water come out tell-tale, prop, or both with motor not running?

2. Motor should NOT be cranked when only running water through the powerhead since water is not circulating in lower parts?

FYI when hooked to a muf, water come out tel-tale, not nearly as strong when running the motor, after 10 minutes alarm came on, clearly was not getting enough water through the system. Water pump, impeller, thermostats, popit just changed, ran 5 hrs on the ches bay saturday pee'd super strong.

thanks

Bryce

That is one of the reasons I'm not a Yamaha 4 stroke fan. This is not the first time I've heard of this. I've had one a 80Hp 4 stroke do the same thing after the pump change.

I have 50PSI of house pressure and can run both DF-140's on the same hose at the same time with a Y setup and they sit there and run fine.

Your gonna have to get a plastic 55gal drum and cut it down to run the motor in.

Don't ask me why....It's just a nature of the beast.

Warthog, I'm using a cheapo muff with water connection only on one side, I wonder if the more expensive mufs with water ports on both sides would give me the pressure i need.

I don't know...I have the good one's.

Bryce, I have a Yamaha 200 hp 4 stroke and had a similar issue with the alarm. I spoke to my dealer who advised that I should also hook up a hose to the flush port as well as the lower unit. Never had the alarm issue since and i have been doing it this way for 6 years now. Dealer told me due to the size of the engine I need to supply water to in both places. Hope this helps

Bryce I usually hook the garden hose to the female side (I.e. the small hose off the engine) that was what I was instructed to do. When the engine runs and gets to operating temp I do get water out of the tell-tail
