I bought this 546s unit on 4/23/12 and I think Garmin has a two year warranty on self installed equipment so you have about one more year left. it has pre loaded US coastal charts and comes with a dual freq sounder that is bottom painted on the sides and top (my boat is in the water all year) and works perfect. The boat is under a covered area so exposure to sun was minimal
I also bought the locking system for theft, and also have somewhere in the house a second power cable so you can mess around with the unit inside your house if you have a 12v supply.
