Well finally came up with a name for my Parker. It's been tuff trying to think of a good name. Wanted something that kind of meant something. I kept telling the wife I'll just name it after her. She didn't care for the idea so I kept thinking and looking around for an idea. Well last night I was sitting around, actually I was reading all the past post here on Classic Parker when it hit me. I have a nick name for my wife, I call her Monster. She's ok with it even the dog knows what I mean when I say monster's home. Any way’s the name I came up with is ---- Sea Monster ---- I was playing with some online graphic sites and it looks pretty good with the Sea over the monster and a little graphic monster pic with it. :p

I told her and she didn't disagree. I also told her I would give her to Feb. to come up with something else. I think she's on board with sea monster though. 8)

Now I will have to figure out where to put it on the boat and what size letters. Any suggestion will be appreciated. I was thinking on the sides in front of the Parker sticker and on the back.

Congrats on the boat name! "Sea Monster"

I think naming your boat is almost as hard as naming your kids. I have had mine for four years and still have not settled on a name! (The boat not the kids)

I think it would be neat to find out how folks settled on a name. I wonder if there are any previous posts for that? For instance, I use the screen name "Seaotter" because we spent hours carefully preparing rigged ballyhoo for a tuna trip and left them in a cooler in the cockpit over night. When we got to the boat in the morning, we found that the little furry scoundrels had got into the boat, managed to pop open the cooler and eat every single ballyhoo. Nothing left but empty rigs scattered all over the deck!

As far as naming the boat, I also want it to be meaningful before I commit to slapping adhesive letters on her. "Sea Monster" is cool, I like it! :D

There is a great thread on here about boat naming, name fonts, name locations. Do a search for it and it should come up.

I removed my Parker logos and applied the name/graphics in that general area where it looked best optically port and starboard.

In the spring before I haul in for the season I'll re-stripe the factory pinstriping below the rub rail with colors that compliment the graphics.

I named my 2120 SC ''Offgassin" I dive off the boat alot, and if you are a diver you know what the term means.Offgassin is also a way for me to just get out on the open ocean, and do what I love to do.
Takes away the stress that life can throw at ya.So "Offgassin' works for me.
This is a great thread w/endless possabilitys.
Anyone else?
MJ.

Sea Monster... I love it. 8)

I've been a career firefighter for many years, the last 26 of them with my present department. I had a couple of names in mind for my previous boat that picked up the firefighter theme...

One day I happened to be down in Deale where I saw two Chessie Deadrises sitting side-by-side on the hard being serviced for the spring. One was "Backdraft" and the other was "Flashover". To say I was crushed that my two choices were taken was an understatement. :(

At the time I was the training officer and the resident computer guy for my department, so that is why I picked "Megabyte" as the boat name and as my screen name on Tidalfish.

When I bought my Parker, I considered "Backdraft" and "Flashover", but so many people knew me on the water and online as "Megabyte" that it was almost impossible to change... so the name(s) stuck. :)

It took us from March to November to work out a name for my 2320. I wanted to name her after my wife Elizabeth, so we toyed with QE3 and the like. Then I came up with the brilliant idea of Eel-izabeth, but that wasn't well received. We decided on Lady Elizabeth, which I thought was fitting all around.

Kevin - in my years as an EMT, we often used the term "Crankspinner" to tease the over-zealous lights-and-siren guys. It has fishing implications too. Maybe for a future boat.
