One is 1989 with single 1999 Yamaha Saltwater 250
The other is 1994 with 2002 twin 225 Mer EFI 2 strokes.

I have read good things about the above Yamaha, albit the O2 sensor and cost of parts may be a challenge.

What about the Mercury engines. May be 3 liter which might mean could single up and keep one for parts or spare. But aside from that issue how would the reputation of the Yamaha and the Mercury compare considering the names, year, and type of engine. Both 2 strokes

Both same asking price. Leaning towards the newer boat and the newer engines

I always liked mercury ran a 200HP 1992 2-stroke motor, Sold it and replaced it in 2002, with a 250HP merc 2-stroke just for more power. ran that for a few years, before I sold the boat, never any problem with either motor. the 2002 250HP EFI was a strong motor

Too close this one out, I drove three hours to Miss. to look at the one with the twin Mercs. Turns out they were twin 250s. Took it out, made offer, offer accepted but now the rest of the story. The boat was at a Marina where the family had kept it. I understand the father has passed away, and the son and daughter wanted to sell it and they had asked the Marina owner to list it for them and sell it. He took me out, I made the offer, he passed it to the children and they accepted it--EXCEPT, HE NEVER TOLD ME. When I called him, the next day he said it was sold. He had bought it. I looked up the registration and called the folks and they didn't know he was buying it, he had conveyed my offer which they accepted. They went and talked to him but since there wasn't a trailer with it they couldn't get it out of the Marina so they gave up and let him have it.
