Well we installed my new plotter last night. everything went pretty well decided to move the tach and speedo to the right side and stack them. Used the existing holes from the gauges for the plotter. When I bought the boat over the winter i knew it had very old electronics on it so this whole summer i have been using the navionics app on my Iphone which is a royal PITA!!!! So this is a big upgrade from what I have been working with. The guy that owned the boat before me didn't have anything as far a toys on it, which in a way is nice because i was able to pick all my own stuff and put it where i want it.
Still amazed at how well built these boats are, i believe Bryan has a few photos that he will post of the plugs that came out of the dash unreal how thick it is.
Few pics below first pic is how the dash usto look when the previous owner had it.

I never took pics of the plugs, thought you did. No different than what has been posted before though.

1/2" ply core with about 1/4" glass and gelcoat on both sides.

You need to take a pic with everything on. 8)
That touch screen is pretty slick, did you get your wipes?? LOL

Yea i will take a pic with everything on

You are not allowed to touch it with fishy hands!!!!!

Nice work Mike!
Very similar to my layout.

Forum member GW204 did all the cutting, as I'd just had hand surgery.
The back side of the plotter had to be relieved by about 1/2" at each of the bolt holes because the ones Garmin provided were too short to go all the way through the Parker glass.
Just measured... mine was 1" thick.

very nice kev! Yea cutting is definitely a two person job. I had my cousin Bryan do the cutting while i went in from the back with the vacuum to cut down on the fiberglass mess. Hes a shop teacher so i trust him cutting holes in my boat

That is exactly the way we did it. :D

Kev does your garmin plotter have the magnetic door for the SD card slot?
Just wondering because i have read that a few guys say it has messed with there compass when mounting to close, i didn't have a problem with mine the compass may have moved a degree or two but nothing crazy, and i see your card door is about the same distance from your compass as mine is.
I do have to admit i love Garmin products but that magnet is not a bright idea i could see how people have problems

thats good, makes no sense why the new ones have magnets, apparently a lot of sail boaters are having the problem mounting them on there counsels
thankfully i didn't have the problem, they definitely need to do something about that
