I've just installed a transom tranducer for my Garmin on my Parker 25. It works fine untill the speed is increased to 9-10 knots. Then the depth blinks intermitently until the speed is back down to 8 knots. Does anyone have advice. I have called Garmin and readjusted the various settings but it doesn't seem to help.

generally, thats about the range that i've experienced with transom mount transducers. theres not much youre gonna be able to do about that. you might have some success moving the transducer's location around in relation to trim tabs, strakes, etc, but i doubt it'll make much difference.

i can't count how many transom holes i've "erased" for people who chase better performance out of a transom mount ducer by moving it around.

............my advice is to get the thru hull Airmar tilted element for good performance at speed and ease of installation. Or, for flawless performance at speed, any one of Airmar's shoot thru models..........but depending on model, the latter is a bit harder to install.

We have had transom mount transducers on our last boat and this one and have not had any issues reading the bottom even at 20kts.

Last winter we changed the props on the boat and the transducer popped up(like it should in case you hit something) when we had the boat close to shore. Took the boat out and could not read bottom after 8-10kts and was not sure why.

Hauled boat for spring work noticed transducer was not locked in place, snapped it back in place and it works fine again. It is just a hair deeper than the bottom of the boat and away from trim tab, motor. I don't think U have any pics but will search around.
