I had to put gas in my boat for the first time. It took forever! Even going super slow. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix? I thoght I saw something sometime ago but couldn't find it again in a search.

Thanks

Mike,
Check your fuel vent. It's under the rubrail near the gas fill. I am not sure what type you have, but they all have a screen to exclude bugs and dirt. Sometimes the screen gets corroded and needs to be cleaned. If dirty, think about replacing the entire vent. Get a stainless steel model. The "chromeplated over zamac" ones don't last. Check yours out as there are straight and 90 degree bent ones. They are usually easy to replace.
At my old marina, once in a while it would be difficult to keep the nozzle
from clicking off. I never had this when getting gas anywhere else.
Hope this helps.

Mine has been a PITA since day 1.

I place a tall narrow funnel in the hole and it allows me to fill quicker.

Well I took 3" off the fill line and still have the same problem. I guess the next step is a new vent.. I think i'll try one of the flush mounts you guy's have listed here.

Fuel vent is close to the water line, and with wave splashing the vent gets salt corrosion. Replace it, they are accessible, and you are back in business. I used to try to clean them, not worth it.

All fixed. I finally took the vent out and after soaking it in salt terminator and some scraping with a screwdriver all is good at the pump. Gas flows in at a normal rate. Thanks for all the help. :D :D
