I just wanted to share that there has been a hot button issue here in Maryland this year where one user group of our resource has been lobbying to have a particular part of our fishery shut down/greatly restricted without any scientific backing. I dont want to go into the issue here as that is irrelevant to the point I want to make...

Anyhow I wanted to note that due to the issue that I had contacted the RFA (Recreational Fishing Alliance) about the issue and was very impressed and pleased with their willingness to help stand up for fisherman's rights. Jim Donofrio, the RFA executive director, and Jim Hutchenson, the managing director, were very accessable and willing to hear my issue and do all they can to address it. The issue is still pending with a lot of unknowns but I have already seen how willing they are to look after the interest of recreational fisherman.

If you are not a member of the RFA and a recreational fisherman, I highly recommend becoming a member. At this day in age when unsubstantiated attacks on fisherman's rights can come from many different groups, it is great to know that one national organization will stand up for us. It is not expensive to belong and cost less than what some good lures cost for a year membership. You never know when you may need them!

Here is their website for those who do not belong: http://www.joinrfa.org/
