I have recently moved to Solomons Island, MD, and am looking for a Parker for fishing. I currently own a 2004 Lund Alaskan SS that I have used for fishing year round on Cayuga Lake, Ithaca, NY. Now that I live on "big water" I am shopping for a Parker, which I have long admired.

I believe that a second helm behind the the cabin, not aloft, would help me maneuver into my slip at Spring Cove Marina where my Lund is now berthed. Once I purchase the Parker, I shall sell my Lund. Any suggestions as to which Parker I should buy, four stroke or two stroke motors, twin motors or one, critical electronics, will be appreciated.

I am 71, have fished in the Arctic and Northwest Territory in summers out of Inuit camps, and enjoy all manner of fishing. Looking forward to exploring the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River, on which I live with my wife.

Mike,
I own a 2120 Sport Cabin and fish out of Solomons. I like the smaller boat since I trailer my boat to various locations. If I intended to use a slip I would certainly go with the 2320 or 2520 depending on how much boat you really want/need. My 2120 is very economical and has a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke. If you are interested I would be happy to take you out sometime when I'm out there.

I'm originally from upstate NY (near Lake Placid) and spent 3 years stationed at Seneca Army Depot off Seneca lake. That is a beautiful area and had great fishing! You will love Solomons area too.

I would like that, Steve. Currently, I am still back and forth between Solomons and Ithaca, expecting to close on the sale of two properties within a week. I shall be back in touch when the transition slows. I appreciate your response and would love to share some experiences from the Finger Lakes, too.

Matt... Greetings, and welcome aboard CP!

When you settle into Solomons, you will discover that the Chesapeake Bay is indeed 'Parker country'.
Center consoles, walk-arounds, and especially sport cabins...
You will not get tired exploring and fishing the Chessie.

Keep an eye on our 'for sale' area, but honestly, around here... many Parkers sell by word of mouth even before an ad goes into print.
Good luck!

Hi Matt, you have picked a beautiful place to move to and a very nice place to slip your boat. I have stayed at spring cove marina a few times while down there fishing. Its a 1st class marina and the Naughty Gull Pub next door is a great place to stop and wet your whistle after a long day of fishin and the food is good. One thing to keep in mind.... If you look at a map of the bay you will see how the bay narrows down right at solomons which causes the waves to build a bit more in that area. It is not uncommon to have bumpy ride on a beezy spring day while chasing stripers in that area. But maybe you have found that out already. My though is if you can afford a 25 that would be my suggestion. Good luck Mike

Thank you, Mike, I appreciate the feedback and suggestions. I am trying to decide between a 23 and 25. Since I fish often alone, I wonder if the 25 is more than I need. In severe chop I can see the benefit of more hull. However, it's a big guy to bring in and out of the slip. I am still pondering. Matt

The rear steering station makes docking much easier, no matter which hull you decide on.
If you are ever up this way, I'd be happy to demonstrate.
