We are looking to re-power the boat and get rid of the 1991 Yamaha 115hp 2 stroke. Any ideas in terms of a 90hp 4 cycle, they weigh about the same as I understand it. The old 115 hp weighs in at 357 and the 90 hp is 353. These numbers are from the internet. What are the pros and cons in terms of stability, speed and plaining.

As long as your stern is sitting proper with the scuppers above the water line you should be fine with any repower up to the max rated hp range for the hull.
In my opinion 90hp will limit your performance with a moderate load but if that's what's in your budget and planned usage then go that route. Most would go up in HP on a repower.

Any idea what the difference is in lbs. between the dry weight of motor and installed weight, is it just oil?
