I would prefer to install it under the leaning post/rocket launcher. Local mech. says I can't install it there due to the location of the fuel tank under the leaning post. He does not want to run power and water through the sealed compartment containing the aluminum fuel tank which I agree would be risky. I would think there is a chase or a conduit somewhere that would allow for this. According to my service rep. Parker installs a chase on new boats that are getting a livewell but not on boats that are not shipped with one. Is there any other reasonable alternative?

Do like I. purchase a 30 gal barrel, some fittings and build a live well

It Always comes down to the plumbing. Rarely do you see a chase installed in a boat for that purpose.
A Lot of times there is not enough room between the tank and the cover to install a fitting and a 1 1/2in drain hose.
Fuel Sending units can get in the way also.
