Two questions:

One a newer Parker with T-300s, which engine is used as the pickup for speedometer?

My speedometer is slow to respond, I ran through some crap and know I have a partial clog, if on land I would clean the pickup hole in the lower unit with a 1/8 Allen wrench, disconnect the rubber hose and blow it out from the hole in the lower unit. Is there an easy way to clean out with the boat in the water? Perhaps get a can of compressed air and blow into the disconnected hose back through the hole in the lower unit?

As always, thanks

Not that I'm aware of.

Personally....a speedo is a waste of dash space. If I'm reworking a dash.....I eliminate the speedo.

Most of them are not accurate......and as with yours.....are troublesome.

GPS is what I use for speed.

Yea, but it's a function within the Yamaha multi gauge and if it doesn't work the gauge can't calculate fuel economy. Not super critical but it bugs me to see the gps reading 30 mph and the speedometer function in the multi gauge showing 15 mph and only 1 mpg.

I'll probably back the boat up at the ramp, tilt the motor up, wade in and blow it out with a can of compressed air. Just not sure which engine is used. Thanks

80# test mono. A piece of weedwacker line will work too Run it up and down the tell tale a few times and also into the pitot opening. Do that every so often and you'll be clog free.

As far as which LU pitot is providing the data to the computer, I do not know. My guess would be the RH/main engine (starboard).

Thanks everyone, I'll let u know what happens.

I once had a piece of thin braid that got sucked up in there. I use a large paper clip and run it through the hole every year.

I thought if you have speed set to GPS source then it doesn’t matter if the hole gets plugged. It will still calculate fuel economy. I thought that was one of the reasons for setting GPS for speed data.
