i about to pull the trigger on subject chartplotter.....finally got to use it on the water, instead of playing with it in retail stories.

the side scan shoots out to the star. and port and provides real life (video) type images up 150' each side. my test was at the rt. 50 bridge, its amazing looking at the pilings, sewer piper, other structure......fish readily identifiable. the regular fishfinder and gps mapping (navionics) is exception.

it is no longer a k-mart machine.

i would have posted pics but kevin never did provide ojt. look at the hummingbird web site. no i don't own hummingbird.

thought you guys might enjoy some fishing related stuff, and take a break from polishing and tinkering with you parker.

now i need to remove one of my toys, anybody want a perfect sitex crv-106, 200 msg. fishfinder.....the workhorse of the charter industry with all books and records.......on water demo available in shady side $200.

I think I need to see one of these things on the water... It would be cool to cruise around the Bay Bridge and actually see all that structure, and the fish that hang out there.

Hummingbird has had a K-Mart reputation in the past, but maybe that is about to change. Overcoming perceptions of the past could be tough, but if the product is good... they might be able to do it.

Thanks for the report Cap!

I bought my Humminbird Matrix 47 3d about 3 years ago, when it first came out (pre-purchased at a boat show and was shipped to me when it released).

It has a 640X480 5" monochrome display (really really sharp), and it was light years ahead of the other humminbirds I had ever owned. Have had it on 2 boats now and works as good as the day I bought it. The 3d bottom mapping in very cool, as it paints a wide 3d picture of the bottom showing hills / valleys / structure.

I'm sure the newer units are even better. Humminbird it not he bargain basement crap it used to be for sure.

when/where is the parker party?

when/where is the techy seminar?

Here you go Cap...

We're going to move the raft-up just inside the 6kt area of Whitehall Creek (or Ridout Creek) depending on weather and water conditions. That should get us away from the boat wakes in Whitehall Bay and make it a nicer experience overall.

We can have a tech seminar during the raft-up if you'd like. :)

channel surfer, its the side scan that is amazing. i have a new c-80 and i will continue to use it in the regular mode, plus gps and will use the side scan to locate structure, etc. i am purchasing the combo unit (fishfinder and gps map, thus i will have a complete back-up unit. the regular 2D hummingbird is also exceptional too, it uses navionics software and i will get the gold +.
