looking to buy used 2520 & wondering if the step down into the cabin is the same on a 2001 as a 2006 model. from pictures, it appears that a 2006 2520xl looks like a bigger cabin (height & width) than a 2001 sport cabin. how high is the roof on an XL cabin above the rear cockpit floor.
I am wondering if less chance of banging head on an XL cabin.

thanks

Much depends on the deadrise of the older boat vs the newer boat.

The XL hull is a 16 degree deadrise boat.
The older MV hulls were 14 degree, and there is a difference when in the water.
The 14 degree boat has a lower freeboard, and a lower overall cabin height than the 16 degree boat.

Having said that, the cabin headroom in both boats is the same.
There is no difference.

In the first photo, the XL is on the right.
In the second photo, the XL is on the left.

talk about optical illusion.
Your MV in the 1st photo looks like a wider beam boat because of the lower freeboard.
In both photos it looks like the cabin roof is much higher but can't tell if that is because the deck is higher so may still have the bump your head effect.

I saw a listing on yachtworld for a 2006 open back Xl & it looks like the step down is not that much.

Cannot comment on the amount of step-down between the two models, but the headroom in both is the same.
