When I replaced the captain's seat post, the stock foot rest would not fit the new post. The OD on the new post is 4" and the curvature of the stock foot rest is too narrow. Furthermore, the manufacturer said they don't recommend using that type of footrest, mid post, due to the lateral pressure it puts on the post. Whatever....

Anyway, I'd like to install a foot rest that I can attach to the helm station itself. Preferably one that folds up and out of the way.

The only one's I've seen are made by Garelick and it is some flimsy looking aluminum job.

If anyone knows where I can get a good sturdy one, let me know.

Thanks

just to let you know i have one in my 2520 and its not flimsy at all i stand on from time 2 time and i weigh 190

Garelick also makes that item with a 15" white polymer step, 26115 and 18" white polymer step, 26118. They also heavy duty wrap around step that is an extrusion with white treads, 27316. That may be the one you are looking for. Sorry I don't have a pic.

call Parker. the one installed on my 2530 bolts directly to the bulkhead. i think it was a stock item back in the day. its similar to that, but its got a full aluminum body with teak strips rather than the teak plate. its pretty sturdy. ill check to see if i can find the manufacturer on it next time im at the boat.

Pelagic, is there a backing plate behind those bolts? Can you provide any details?

I've seen the one with the teak strips. Pretty nice.

Otherline, im not sure, ill have to check it out for you. i know that that particular area on my boat, there is two layers of helm-thickness glass, but i dont know about backing plates. all i know is that its very sturdy, takes the weight of my dad (a bit over 200) just fine, no flex. ill look at it this weekend.

TOL....I have one just like your photo on my port side. It's very sturdy.
I have a Garelick adjustable footrest on my helm bulkhead. It's very sturdy also. However, I'm modifying it a bit as it is raked a bit more than I want. I think you'll be happy with the Garelick. Be very mindful of the height that you install it. Actually a bit higher than you might think should be just right. If you have some bend in your knees sitting still, it will be more comfortable to brace yourself when running in snotty seas.
Good fishing!

what would be wrong w/footrest parker uses on cc's?

I don't know what the CC's have. I go take a look. Thanks

HM5 - Thanks for the link!

SteveJ- Thanks for the input. My only remaining reservation about the helm mounted footrests is that very often, as I make my way through minimum or no wake zones, I like to turn the chair 45 deg, and either rest my heels on the passenger seat or put one leg on the swivel pedestal and cross my other leg over it. Gives me a chance to stretch out and change the position of my legs.

I am one of those fidgety guys. Can't sit still in a movie theater either

I bought one of those Garlick foot rests and stand on it all the time, I got mine new on eBay for less than 50.00, so search for it, all the big stores very $$$$$ I took off the one that came on the pedestal, as it was in the way to store stuff !
