I know similar threads have been batted about but I'm looking for a specific referral from someone who has had a leaning post made up by a fabricator. I have a 2100SE with pedestal seats on the above deck livewell and want to remove them and replace with a leaning post. I don't like the newer Parker leaning post that uses the pedestals so I haven't bothered contacting them and I have had no luck getting someone to bite making one for me locally (eastern shore MD or DE). One guy that I had build a mini-tower/hardtop for my old boat told me there's no money in making a leaning posts....had been thinking since I was a returning customer I'd get some love form this guy, but too small a project I guess. I think the mass produced leaning posts (taco etc...) have most of the custom guys beat out of the market but gotta be a niche there for some of them?

Anyway, I'm hoping to hear from someone that had one built for same boat and maybe their guy still has the specs and could make one up and ship? Or open to better ideas?

I'm looking for a pretty standard 4 leg leaning post with 4 rod holders and a removable backrest. My livewell measures 36x32x17" and I'd like seat to be at 34"high.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

This picture is now 12 years old but I am still using the same leaning post today. I bought a fiberglass shell at a yard sale for $2. I gel coated it to match the hull, added 3 rod holders and had a shop make the pad. I used 3/16" aluminum tubing big enough to slide neatly over Parker stanchions. (They did not have to be cut or moved) I had two plates welded with a bolt up to one end of the tubing to attach to the fiberglass shell . I can switch from captains chairs to a leaning post in less than 30 seconds with no tools. Surely not as fancy as what's available on the market today but it has severed me well.

I am on my 4th motor with this hull. I did away with the kicker motor. I just had my fuel tank replaced this year and made some modifications to the deck in reference to the how the overfill and fill lines run to the transom.
Boat is a Parker 1997 SE commercial hull.

Capt Bill, That looks nice! Great to live in a place where you find that stuff at yard sales! How often do you switch back n forth tween LP n seats?

I know im new here, newly registered anyway so dont want to whine but how come these guys that custom marine fab dont want to build LP's? Tried a couple more n no call back...hope their all too busy but somewhat frustrating. Anyone have any thoughts!

Never now as I bought my wife a bean bag chair and gave my seats away.

Forget talking to shops. To have a shop custom make a leaning post would cost a small fortune. Maybe you could buy something close and have a local fiberglass shop make modifications to your specs. Google "boat leaning post" and search through images.

Bausch Towers in Carolina made the leaning posts for Parker that went on the factory 30 gallon livewell. Danny Meadows is GREAT to deal with. I just ordered a new leaning post, folding foot rest and 6 matching rod holders to build a rocket launcher with. He completed and shipped the order in a matter of days. He shot me a picture of two more getting ready to go out the door. I thought pricing was excellent as I got a local quote to build.

Check out Welding World Inc. in Miami FL. They make a nice leaning post at a good price.

I have a 2003 SE and I want to remove the livewell and install a leaning post similar to this one. Does anyone know if the two boats (18'&21') have the same livewell configuration?

Tucker... did you ever have any luck getting what you wanted? I'm in the market to do the same now.... There is a guy that does awesome work near where I live, but it's a small fortune...
