I used LED lights for the automotive market to retro fit the vee berth light on my 2530 when the fluorescent ballast went dead. Works great. Very bright.

Lighter and less amp draw. Plus when the cover gets snapped on it looks original. Not like something out of Star Trek.

I installed cockpit lights under my washboards long before strip and tube lighting was available from the aftermarket.
The first commercially available LED lighting was found in the trucking industry as clearance lights.
Therefore my deck lighting consists of red LED clearance lights of the type you would find on over-the-road trucks.

Because automotive lights use the chassis ground, I had to solder in pigtails on the lights before I could mount and wire them under the washboards.
My lights have been in place now since 2004 and are still going strong.
Since installing the under washboard lighting, I've replaced all of my lighting with LED units.
Everything from the nav lights to the cockpit flood... everything is LED.

Since the LED market has exploded since I did my initial project, there are a lot more options available today.

As Warthog stated tho, stick-on LED strips don't hold up in the marine environment.
Good luck!
