I want to run the wire to the outside motor of my lift under the water. Most lifts in the creek I'm in do it that way. I plan on using the grey flex hose and putting that inside grey 2" pvc conduit for extra protection - ie from power pro and a running redfish if someone is fishing under the dock. The current wire is a heavy black insulated type with 4 strands. The motors run on 220. I couldn't find the right match at Lowes and when I went to electrical supply place there were too many choices and I really didn't know what to ask for. Is there a specific name or grade for that type of wire?
many thanks
Bill

of course this none of my business

I hope each circuit branch is protected by a GFI circuit breaker and properly grounded. There are have been several deaths due to electrocutions on faulty boat lift electric installations in southwest Florida and several counties now require electricians to have in date and on file longshoremen electrician liability coverage to work on boat lifts and several lawsuits filed against the property owners. We had a difficult finding an electrician in Charlotte County FL b/c they were booked solid for months (talk about having a money tree, too, they charge extra with take it or leave it punch line and some charge for an estimate and say we will stop next week but cant tell you the day or time ). off my soap box

Ask the electrical supply house for sj wire. It looks like a black extension cord. Pipe it to the dock and convert over to sj on the water side.

Homey don't play that game. I'd call an electrician for underwater 220 stuff.

Gray duck I am an electrician. Make sure u use a gfi circuit breaker for the motor.
