I am in the marine A/C service.
Please help in me finding the right boat.
I am looking at a 1989 sport cabin need all info things to check.

i live here in sw florida myself. i have only seen 3 2520 sc on the water here in Naples/Marco. Mine is a 98 and i might part with it if i can find a 3420 that i can afford. Good luck. If you need any specific info let me know.

Capt, welcome aboard to ClassicParker !

A boat that old needs a good survey from an experienced surveyor IMHO.

Hull: On Parkers of that year, the underside of the deck may be suspect, as they weren't coated with glass layup. My '92 is coated with resin, but '89s might not have anything on the underside. But be aware of 2 things, ... even if resin coated on the underneath side, (1) where the panels end-butted up against each other and (2) where Parker drilled 1" holes to inject the foam are inherent weak spots. Unless that bilge was kept dry and vented, moisture, even 'sweat' condensate from within the hull itself, can and will build up and it may wick right into any open pore of wood that it can.

My '92 deck isn't soft, but over the years I've had a 'wet spot' or 2 around some of the foam injection holes, where the area around it was wet - but not soft. I cut it out and re-glassed the area with kitty hair and epoxy and all is well.

Motor: Unless newly re-powered, it isn't worth much and let me tell you, even if it wears a serviceable 8-year old 2 or 4-stroke motor ... if that old motor dies, then you really need to question what you value the hull at ... as that's all you'll be left with!

Tank: My '92 vintage tank is 1/8" thick marine alloy - see picture - only God knows how long that tank is going to last, but I am religious about keeping the bilge dry and I vent out the deck plates. Try the search feature for 'vent deck plates' and you'll see some neat ideas!

... or, just buy my boat for $30K and have at it ... new 250hp power still under warranty.

Welcome aboard Capt!
As Dale said, there isn't much that can go wrong with these hulls, but time and the actions of others can inject problems.

That said, if you take a look in our "Projects" area, you will see that there isn't much that can't be upgraded or repaired on these boats.
What I call 'deferred maintenance' is the #1 problem with any boat.
The #2 issue are problems induced by a previous owner.

Let us know how your survey goes, and enjoy your reading in the Project forum area.

Bingo! GREAT point Capt Kevin!

I forgot to add  that when I bought my '92 in 2001 ... I told the boatyard owner to (nicely) walk away for a while ... then my brother and I used cordless drills to took off EVERY piece of hardware we could get to - at least the lowest screw or bolt - to look for any evidence of rot or water intrusion. And yes, I re-bedded everything I took apart, as most joints were 'dry'!
