Yeah - this is a tough one. I bought a moisture meter when I was looking for a Boston Whaler a few years ago. Their construction makes them known for getting saturated and heavy. What I found was that the meter gave erratic readings on the used sandwiched BW hulls I checked. However, the new hulls checked out perfectly. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing on older hulls.
However, the meter did work perfectly on a fiberglassed, wood core transom that I knew had water intrusion at a broken bolt. I could easily see where the water was and how far it had soaked into the wood. That sold me on the accuracy meter in the right application.
So I would not argue either way. I have one and I sleep well knowing that it works just fine in the right application. However, the next guy might not be so sure.
