Hi guys,
new on this board, ive had a parker 2100 se for about 6 years now. I have done quite a few upgrades over this span to outfit my boat tha way i want it and am now looking to replace the yamaha controls (i have a yamaha 2002 two stroke 150) with morse style controls as some of the larger parkers have. Was looking for any info on this project.
Thanks alot,
-Joe

Well welcome aboard someone will get to you on you ideas and upgrades to your boat very smart group on this site!!!

Since you aren't concerned about a second station, swapping the Yamaha controls for a set of Morse controls should be a simple remove and replace task.
You will need to add a (Morse) neutral safety switch as well as a panel mounted trim and tilt control, but again it should be a pretty straightforward upgrade.

Do a search of the Power and the Projects areas. I'm pretty sure you will find detail photos and parts lists there from other members who have performed this project.

Good luck!

There are other options for trim, if you can locate one. Teleflex makes these trim units that attach around the steering helm and work like a car directional, see below. Also pictured is the Morse Twin-SR control. Do a search on my name and 'Twin-SR' and you'll find lots of tips as to why that control should be your minimum purchase.

one more thing, will i need to purchase new cables to do this?
I don't believe so, as I thought the existing Yummie connection was a Mores Type 33 threaded connection. You ought to consider the Teleflex Xtreme cables though, they are UNREAL! In fact, they are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo smooth I had to use the 'brake' feature of the Twin-SR control to add some resistance.

Best price on-line for those cables are from www.surplusunlimited.com from my last go-around buying supplies ...

awesome guys, thanks again, this information is saving me tons of work. Ive grown up running inboards so i just always preferred that throttle clutch setup. I think i have narrowed it down to the Morse SR controls. I have found plenty of sites to purchase the controls, however i have not been able to find the neutral safety switch, any suggestions on where to purchase? Also i think i am going with the rocker switch over the steering column mount just to keep it simple (it will go nice next the tab rockers i just installed).
Once i can find all the parts ill order them, i cant wait to get this project done!
Thanks guys,
Joe

If I recall correctly, www.go2marine.com had the most complete stocking of Morse controls and parts anywhere. Enter Twin-SR into their search and I believe there's a link to all related parts.

Note the neutral safety switch works as normally open or closed, so you need to use the proper connection for your starter circuit.

alright... i ordered the parts from go2marine. I ordered the morse twin sr control, the neutral safety swtich, and neutral detent kit (figured for ten bucks it would be a nice add on, especially when i will have friends borrowing the boat). I did opt for the cables.... yet (mine are fine now, but may purchase them in the future)... my last hurdle here is the trim switch. Any suggestions for a nice flush mounted rocker switch?
Thanks again guys, hopefully once the package arrives i will have pictures!

The one I am using can be seen in my helm photo above. It is the round black object above the Yamaha ignition switch with the 3 position momentary rocker in the center (up-off-down).

Not sure where it came from though as my dealer supplied it.

controls are in! I used a piece of black starboard as a collar and mounted the controls... because of where space on my helm i went with the Morse-S as the SR's would not fit. Now im half way through re-designing my electronics box to have everything flush mounted, then a new edson style wheel and the helm should be set!
thanks again guys

Post photos of the project for us!
We love project photos. 8)

pictures will be added soon, once i finish flush mounting the electronics... For the record, remeber... when hooking up morse cables make sure not to do it backwards and start your engine with it almost pinned and scare the crap out of yourself.... lucky i shut it off with in fractions of a second and corrected the cable haha. Took the boat out for sea trial yesterday quickly, the controls were great and i the trim tabs were unreal! I should have put them on 6 years ago!
Pitcures soon,
