want to mount a transom bracket on a 2320. currently has a mercury 225 HP in the engine well. would like to install twin 115's HP instead. new 2320 comes with the transom bracket and a 225 that wieghs the same as the potiential twins. any experience with this?

We had a member awhile back who closed the transom of a 2120 and hung a single, but the technique should be the same for any notched model.
As I recall, the boat lived on a lake and was sold shortly after completion so the owner could start another project.

Search the Projects section and you should be able to find it.

was also thinking of twins, i have a 2320 with a f225 n 9.9 kicker, total weight of 672lbs, the f225 is 562lbs n the 9.9 is 110lbs,,f115s are 414 each, 828 for the pair so you are 266lbs more for twin 115s to 562 for a single f225,,,,115 E=tecs are 390lbs each,,780lbs for the pair,,good luck,,

I would like to leave the transom open after adding the bracket, to walk out and use the bracket as a swimstep. Do you know any shop that has made this add-on?

If the new 2320's have the bracket an the engine further out , it should make no difference on my boat.

I looked up new 2 cycle engines and found the weigth to be right on. I also have a 10 HP Yamaha kicker on the starboard side, and it really does not carry the boat very well, especially when it is windy and choppy.

After asking around, I've been warned that double engines = double trouble, but I have been brough back to port already twice with the kicker and it is time to get new power. So: single 225 or double 115's?

Any advice?

Thanks

Why? If the problem is fuel related than new power will do nothing. Personally with a 23 foot boat I would stay single.

It was not fuel trouble, the kicker feeds from the same 100 Gal tank.

I have had fuel problems too, in addition to new fuel ethanol formula that desintegrated the fuel hose's inside and clogged the fuel inyectors, had to replace them, fuel pump and the entire fuel system.

Engine needs to be replaced, according to last repair. It is a 2000 Mercury EFI 225-2 cycle, used only in salt water. The boat stays on the trailer while not used.

I get 1 mile/ gal cruising at 25 miles/Hr on calm water.
