I need some advise or opinion

on this boat
http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/boa/2222845591.html
I'm going to see it this Sunday morning
the guy is a broker
He says the boat is a little dirty he got it in Late fall
Hasn't cleaned it up yet but is solid and no visual damage
Trailer is in good condition and road worthy
Motor turns but he has yet to try to start it up
He wants to move it and The motor is not in price
He says he is firm $ 3400.00....Listing 3500.00
This will be a project boat and my nephew is a Marine mechanic
I just wont to know if you all think its a good staring price

I heard they only made 286 of these 17' from another source
Love all feed back
thanks
Sully

That is a big 17' boat...price is only a good deal if there are no soft spots on the floor or any bad places on the hull. I have seen a few of these for sale over the last 10 yrs in Eastern NC and they usually don't last long. If you have a motor and do not have to invest too much, it may be a good deal. If you are going to have to spend another $5000 on a used motor I would be looking for an 18'. Look the floor over really good and make sure there are no soft spots.
