hey guys need some advice, i went fishing this morning boat ran great as usuall. came home picked up the wife and headed back out for lunch. went about two miles at 4200 rpm and the warning light went off, motor rpm dropped and the bar above the oil can symbol was flashing. stopped the motor 2004 yamaha 225 4 stroke checked the oil all good there. restated no warning bar flashing but as soon as I got the boat back up on plane same thing happened. shut the motor down, restarted no warning bar flashing idled my way home for about 10 min then tried to get her on plane again and she ran fine the 2 miles back to the house the motor has 950 hrs on it. appreciate any thoughts, thanks mike

I am stumped too who knows on these warning things, if your oil level is truely OK. Only guessing, increased power= increased the pressure making warning come on. Check if pee stream is OK too, although oil light is going it is acting like an over heat condition too by the shut down at hight RPMs.
First place to check, pull the OB cover off, look at oil filter, is it tight, any leaks ? Filler Cap and Dip stick in place ?
Next right above the oil filter you will see a little round plug like thing with I think 2 wires on it, see if it is cracked or broken, or lose.
Re-Check oil level see if top'd off to the fullest by recommendation. They take a good amount of oil, check manual for amount for that model.

Well beacon light marina just called me at work, they got the chance to sent a mechanic over today, nice that they make house calls. The mechanic hooked up the lap top and said he thinks its a bad sending unit. the alarm was for high pressure readings way out of any perameters. he ordered a new sending unit, hopefully that's it. . I plan on having the exhaust checked as soon as I can get the boat running. Its time to replace the timing belt and have a new water pump installed. I will have all that replaced and checked once I can run it over to their shop and have the boat pulled. That corrosion problem always haunts me although so far so good. I am hoping that has nothing to do with it. Thanks Mike

Good deal that it is getting fixed, you have plenty of season left to enjoy. Happy Motoring :D
