Hey guys-

Any suggestions for replacing my factory dual horn thats failed.
Without spending a fortune, want to be legal, signal when passing/overtaking, and an occasional toot to say hello!
I see a ongaro,powder coated dual 18 1/2" at Defender for $99.99
Thanks-

Reel Job

I also have a 2005 2520XL and have replaced the horns under warranty and now need to be replaced again. The dealer installed "SignalTone" dual horn and it also did not last very long. I will be watching this post for suggestions on horn replacement. :(

I posted this in 2009 and my horn is still in perfect working order......

A few years ago, I got fed up with the 3rd replacement set of electric horns. I opted for a single white (powder paint) airhorn. To insure that no water could get to the compressor, I created a system. Hopefully this will make sense. 1. air line from compressor is tight fitted and siliconed into a hole drilled into the lid of a 1 quart plastic jar-- approx. 2 to 3 inches of air line projects into the jar
2. Another line is fitted into the lid opposite the first in the same manner, but only one inch into the jar This other end of this line goes directly up to the horn
3. Screw the lid tightly onto the jar.
I check the jar for water every month or so and have only had a 1/4"
of water in it at most. Obviously, the lid must be screwed on tightly to make an air tight seal.

Makes sense to me. The jar acts as a trap for the water. I have never seen an air horn. How big is the compressor and where did you mount it ?

They come in all sizes, some small enough to put on a motorcycle.
You don't have to have an air horn for it to be loud. There are some pretty loud electrics out there these days.

But... if you want air and you want loud, Google is your friend. :D

I found out my horn that failed would retain water while on the trailer. My 12 year old son suggested I mount the new one with a block of star board on the stern end so water would always drain out.

Horn still working and I also swear by fluid film. buy it by the gallon and paint all things metal with it.
