Hi All,
I just bought a 1994 1801 with a 2001 Yamaha 115hp 4-stroke...
I really like the boat, but am having a couple issues.

It seems like the deck/hull is taking on too much water.... I think my perko scuppers (2 above water, 1 below) might be staying open a little bit. Should I replace with new rubber? Or is there a better option that won't let water in?? It happens the most slow trolling when a buddy is standing back there with me.

The other thing I am looking to improve is storage. I am going to put a tackle storage in the center console, does anyone have ideas for storage under the gunwales near the bow? Any good nets or bags that fit well? Any better ideas? I have rod holders under the gunwale, but it seems like there is still some unused space.

Thanks,
Jared

Hello,

I think your boat is probably 1800 and not an 1801. I think they are almost identical though. I called Parker to ask about the difference because I have a 1995 1800. Who ever I spoke to there, said the primary difference was that they extended the gunwale around the stearn... and the sides may be 1" higher on the 1801, but he was not sure about that.

My 1800 has a 115 2 stroke and I do not have water coming in the stern when it is just me standing there. However, I am sure with the boat not moving and waves on the stern it would. Most folks carry a couple of plugs with them ( I just bought new ones this weekend) to drop in the scuppers when they don't need the self bailing feature.

When I was looking for my boat, I did get on a 18' souwester, (same hull) it had a 90 4 stroke on it, and water did come in through the scuppers with just one guy on the stern. I attribute that to the extra weight of the 4 stoke.

Best of luck with your new boat. Mine is still pretty new to me... and so far, it's darn near perfect for my needs.

I have a 2008 ..1801 and with two men standing in the back you can at times get some water through the scuppers.. Talked to a guy that had a 2000..1800, he said that with 2 batteries in the rear and 2 men in the back trolling w/ full livewell he got water most of the time ..so he moved his batteries up to the console and solved most of the problem..
