Maybe Parker is going to start giving power choices.. (What's next, Bennett trim tabs)

From tidal fish... :

OC Boat Show is nice this year. I was really surprised to see Parker's with E-tecs hanging on them, but that is what I saw. Lots of pretty boats...but the new fiberglass smell makes one slightly disoriented and possibly a little loose w/ the checkbook. Fortuneatly resin fumes don't have the same effect on SWMBO and she has the check book. Then it was off to dinner, Outback or Ruth Chris, with visions of new power still fresh in my mind we made it an Outback night.

I saw the Parkers with E-Tec at OC show as well. Talked to the guys at Short's Marine who showed them. They get Parker to ship hullls "bare" then install OMC controls/motors etc themselves. They appear to have a deal with OMC to get the E-Tecs back on the water in this area on "quality boats" There appears to be a market for "big block" 2 strokes for weight considerations and to avoid the need for tabs when repowering.

That's interesting news, but not surprising. Parkers are heavy boats and will likely benefit greatly by removing 100# off the transom. FWIW my 2310WA was originally sold by Shorts and came factory-rigged with a Yamaha F200 four-stroke. After I brought it to California and added the 50 Gallon Offshore bait tank the boat WOULD NOT PLANE OUT with a full load of bait (400+lb.) ,150 gal. of fuel (900+lb.s) ,3 people and gear with the 17pitch black Yam prop. I propped back to a Ballistic 15P SS and it pops up on plane OK- but who wants a 30MPH boat?!
I called Parker re this and was told that the boat "performed fine" with the F200 in their testing. ( It's interesting to note the the F200 was THE LARGEST 4-stroke available in 2002. Sundance Marine in San Diego [only Parker dealer around at this time] will not order the 2310WA with anything less than an F250...)
Anyway, my 2007 E Tec 250 (with 7 year extended warranty!) is on order an I will give a full report of this repower in another installment.

I gotta admit. with the off-white hull, a black motor would look much better

Niice! Shorts boats?
BTW, OMC is long gone... BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) makes the Evinrudes (and Johnsons; as well as SeaDoo boats & PWC's, SkiDoo snowmobiles, Bombardier ATVs Rotax engines, CanAm motorcycles and Lynx)
I like the white: crispy lookin. :D

That photographer is pretty good. :D

Yeah, I hear he has a special lens on his camera that makes pictures of bilges appear spotless!

yea, i saw those same boats at shorts during their annual labor day boat sale. at first, i thought i was seeing things. then, i got all panicky, thinking that ol' Linwood was going crazy  But then i talked to a salesman and found out that it was alright, it was just the bad taste of those salesmen at shorts  . then i walked back out and saw, horror of horrors, a 2520 XL WITH A VERADO!!!!!

i fled the lot and have never gone back

jk. both are good engines, but i like yammies. its true that a comprable horse etec will outpull a yammie any day of the week, but i still like em. they purr like kittens. :)

According to Short's website, they sell jetskis, pontoon boats, Bayliners, Maxiums (huh,?), Johnsons (do they still make Johnsons?), Mercruiser and Volvo stern drives, Trophys and for their saltwater customers...

Parkers

I have a 2000 year model Parker that is rigged with a 225 hp Ram Ficht, which has been totally trouble free since the day I bought it new. There are many dealwers who get hulls from Parker and rig with whatever engine the customer prefers.

Easiest way to tell, ask pilot if "He's had his plugs indexed lately"? Look around on floor for old sparkplugs, and work orders for computer up-grades.
