Hi all. I used to be a Mako man and still love the early '70 series of the 22'. I do a lot of shallow water fishing and clamming on the flats. Unfortunately, Mako no longer makes a boat I like and my trusty old 22 has reached it's service life. A friend of mine has a deep vee Parker and I like the constuction but I don't like the draft. I've narrowed down my search to the Parker 23 SE.

I've seen some numbers floating around here on Classic Parker with regard to performance. I've also tried the Yamaha Performance Charts. So far, I have not found consistent numbers. The boat I'm interested in is a 23 SE with a hardtop. Someone on here says he gets 43 knots which is almost 50 mph with a Yamaha 225. That sounds fast to me giving I have a 225 Yamaha on my 22' Mako and no hardtop and I can't reach that speed. Another says he has a 23 SE with hardtop and 200 Yamaha. With this rig, he reports 32 knots or 38 mph. This is a huge difference between the two rigs for only 25 HP.

Any other actual performance inputs would be appreciated. I was looking at the 200 for the 23 SE but 32 knots is just not the speed I was hoping for and if this is the actual number, I will upgrade to the 225.

Thanks for any input.

Another request for anyone with the 23 SE hardtop. I was looking for a height measurement from the deck to the bottom of the electronics box on the hardtop.

Thanks.

Thanks but as I said, I went to the yamaha performance and could not find the information. I'm looking for owners with actual numbers for a 23 SE with either the 200 or 225 with a hardtop. As for the height, it's not a custom hardtop, it's a parker installed hardtop.

Hey,

I have a 23SE, w/ hardtop, w/ F225.

With 3/4 tank gas (about 75ish gallons), a buddy of mine, and fully loaded with fishing gear I can top out anywhere between 36-38 knots. Without the fishing crap (ice), variable fuel, and a case of beer + being all trimmed up nice I have flirted back and forth between 39 and 40 knots.

As for your question of the electronics box...I can give you an exact measurement more towards the middle of the week when I finally get down there....but I am 6'3" and standing here in a law school library trying to visualize, id say it is roughly 6'4" to 6'4" from floor to bottom of box.

Why do you ask, I could probably better detail some thoughts to you with that information.

Thanks Pete. That's what I felt a more realistic speed would be with the 225 and a hard top and medium load. As for the height, I'm 6'2" in bare feet, so if the box is around 6'2" to 6'4" that would be fine since your eye level is lower.

Again, thanks for your response on the 225 speed.

oh if that's what you are worried about you're more than fine, my dad is 6'8" and drives it with only a minor minor bend

Thanks for the accurate numbers Pete.

I just bought a 23 SE with a 200hp - 4 stroke. While testing it out with 75 gallons and two on board, we hit 34 knots at 5600 rpm. The height you stated was right on and I had no problem with the electronics box.

This is my first large engine 4 stroke. I did find it to be a very different engine than my 225hp - 2 stroke.
