Just joined the group. I picked up a one owner 17 f parker about 4 years ago., the one interesting thing with this boat if true is the owner stated he had it made without foam....and there is none. Anyways, it has a honda 50 on it. Gets me around but struggles in strong current and tops out at 18 knots on a good day. Curious what the max HP is for this. Struggling to find the right answer. I was thinking a 70 or 90 night be a nice fit and not be a fuel hog nor add a to much weight. The yamaha 70 probably weighs about the same as my current motor. Any thoughts also on a good size for this?

Strange that it does Not have flotation foam, as that was a requirement by Government. But anything is possible out the back door. I take it, it also has no CG plate for max weight and HP? Thats a good thing for what your wanting to do.

Honda 50= 223lb 22amp alt

Yamaha 70= 253lbs 14amp alt

Yamaha 90=362lbs 35amp alt

Suzuki 70 =343lbs 27amp alt

Suzuki 90=343lbs 27amp alt.

The Suzuki 90A is what I'd put on it and I did on my 1860 SeaArk.

You will run it at less RPM and get better mileage....

What year is your 17? Mine is a ‘97 and it’s rated for up to 130hp. I have a 115 ETEC on it and I’m pleased with the performance.

Thanks for the replies folks. Mine is a 1997
