Just got off the phone with the dealer that I bought my boat from? He had bad news for me my new 250 four storke yamaha that only had 12 hr. on it has a hole in the block?? I went to start her on Sunday and put her in my boat slip? when I went to start her it started up and ran for a min. or two then it just stopped running. I think with only 12 hr. on her I should get a new motor???

tomorrow is decision day (last day) on whether to purchase the Yamaha YES 3 year extended warranty. i think you just talked me into it.

my buddy lost a 200hpdi and had low compression on the other this past fall and Yam took good care of him and put two new powerheads on his motor. (his had over 900 hours on them) I hope they do the same for you and you are back on the water soon.

Something to keep in mind, the ECM from your original powerhead may be used on your new powerhead.

Soooo, the hours will not go back to "000", but continue on from what they are right now with the blown powerhead.

I ran into this with my HPDI when checking the past warranty work done on the engine before I owned it. Andy at SIM gave me the scoop that some of the electronics were changed over from the original p/h. So even though my hour/meter says 436hrs, the p/h probably has only half of that.

I will not have to go back to far the meter only has 12HR. on it :?: I don't know why I am having bad luck? My last boat sunk in the marina? My ins. took care of me but I sure like boating but bad luck it taking its toll. I think they should give me a new motor but I know they will not :?:  I am glad that I have 6 years on this motor  The dealer told me about 2 to 4 weeks before I get her back :(

Yamaha stocks powerheads and changes out at tourneyments.

It just ain't a big deal.

 Fish you are stepping in it and leaving me open to bust your chops but I will let it go

Hey I am just the little guy I have to wait till they get to my boat :?: :?: and you know that yamaha does not care if and when I get my boat back??? Last year my boat sunk in June and I did not get my new Parker till Oct. it took the Ins. that long

The dealer said that yamaha wanted him to take motor apart to see what blew out the side of the block? Then they will tell me what they are going to do?? That is why he said 2 to 4 weeks he also has work on the books? This is not a good time to be getting a motor rebuilt.
