BOE Marine just delivered this brand new Pacific (formerly 'Black Lab') 23 SuperTop to the Kent Queen Anne Rescue Squad in Chestertown Maryland.

This boat was heavily customized for marine rescue duty and has a number of items not shown in the photographs to support marine rescue and dive operations in the Chesapeake Bay area.

Boat 8 is fitted with a 250 hp Etec which performed flawlessly on her inaugural shakedown run yesterday. We were not able to really give the motor a workout, but it did push this boat to 30 kts at about 3800 rpm at cruise. :)

This thing is a hotrod!! 8)

How does the boat perform with the DFI 2 stroke compared to the same boat with a 4 stroke? 8)

Not certain, but my "seat of the pants" impression is that the Etec outperforms the BOE Marine 23ST (same exact hull as this one).
The BOE Marine boat is wearing a 250 Suzuki 4-stroke, and the Etec feels stronger getting on plane... and also seems to have better 'legs' at cruise. The amount of noise from idle to cruise also seems quieter on the Etec versus the Suzuki.

Cannot comment on the fuel burn for this motor as it does not have a fuel flow transducer. I also don't think the Squad really cares so much about fuel economy as they do performance, but I suspect the burn is similar to the Zuke.
Once this motor has some hours on it, it would not suprise me if this was a 50 kt boat in flat water. 8)

The KQARS will be performing additional training in the Chester River and Chesapeake Bay this summer, so I am hoping that we can get both boats together soon for side-by-side in-water "sea trials". :)

I hate to admit it, but my money is on this boat being faster.

I wish there was a stronger dealer network for them. If I somehow end up with a 27 Judge, that would be a fantastic motor to consider!
