I saw this come by the other day and I was thinking that If I ever retire and choose to do some longer range cruising, I'd like to have a boat like this.

Couldn't make out the brand, don't know what style it's called.

Anyone know?

What's with the masts?

The Cadillac of Trawlers.............Grand Banks. :D

Looks like a 42??

I have had a few friends who have lived on trawlers, great boats.
Grand Banks are a little pricey my friends have had Albins and Marine Traders. Great boats if you are not in a rush to get anywhere.

Decoration. :D Actually you can use them to hoist Dingies or outboards, fly a steadying sail, and mount antenna and radar. But they do add to the "trawler" Look.

Not necessarily wood hull. They maintain the wood slats look in their glass hulls to this day on some models.

that hulls is glassed - it just has a wood appearance.

nothing wrong with a wood boat btw. wood served the marine community for, oh, 3000 years or so.

Wood, Glass, either way she's just a classic beauty.

I can see me and the admiral just putting along at 6 knots, taking in the scenery, getting there when we get there.

I wonder how they ride? She looks "substantial" and I envision her easily plowing through all but the nastiest of seas.

Grand Banks. Hmmm. My wheels are turning.

We had a similar boat for awhile.

Very comfortable and economical to run, but slow and expensive to maintain. We had ours in charter service so it paid for itself, but it was more responsibility than I cared to manage.

If you want to get a feel for one, there's a couple outfits in the San Jauns that have them for charter. We were out on one earlier this year as crew for my sis and her husband.
