Following on from a post by esfishdoc in "All Parker Boats" I thought I would post some shots of the boat ramp and car park I hope to one day launch a Parker from.

The ramp is located in Port Victoria, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia. We have a place there that one day we plan to retire to. The town is these days a retirement destination but was once a large grain port.

It is known as "The last of the Windjammer Ports", because it was from here that the last ships to sail in the Great Grain Race left for England in 1949.
An attractive memorial on the foreshore, close to jetty, commemorates those valiant ships and sailors.

The people of Port Victoria are proud of their jetty, which is over 100 years old, and has recently been partly restored. The jetty is a popular fishing spot.

Good looking ramps and launch area!
Interesting too that the recreational fishing sign lists the Great White as one of the areas species.

That is a very nice boat launch for sure very well kept from what i can see in pictures!!!

The Great White is protected and heavy penalties apply if you go near the thing....not that you would want to anyway. I have never seen one although I have been told that they do frequent the area from time to time.
Do you guys have the floating pontoon boat ramps over there? or is it just an Aussie thing?

We have them here too, but use of them (in my area) varies. We generally see them in areas of current, or in places where you want to maintain a 'fixed' height such as fuel docks.

Our tides here only range about 2' so we don't see a lot of floating docks, but in areas that get a higher variation in tides, floating docks make securing your lines much less of a hassle.
