See here ... Yummieha is so scared of potential ethanol in fuel issues that they are recommending ADDING a '$300 per motor' on-OB fuel-water separator cartridge to the motor.

Edit: Note that in that post above, SIM is a Yamaha dealer and himself questions the need of an extra 10-micron filter provided you already have one properly installed and rated @ 10-microns.

It is the opinion of many that you do NOT need this if you are already running an externally mounted Racor 10-micron f/w separator.

And you know - if they claim to VOID any warranty work due to NOT having the on-board filter installed, I believe under FTC rules then it would need to be installed by them as an update or upgrade, and not $300 paid by the owner.

If I remember correctly... the under-cowl filter has always been 10 micron, and the old canister type filters (before last spring) were 30 micron.
That changed with the advent of the baby blue Yamaha canister filters, which are 10 micron... same as the Racor.

So now you have two 10 micron filters with 5' of fuel hose and a priming ball in between them?
That doesn't make much sense to me.
I'm not saying the post on THT is bogus, but it is a bit over the top and I would urge straining it through the THT BS filter before buying into the story.

As I read the THT thread you are quoting, I took the $600 to refer to TWO filters and installs (the poster has twins).

At $300/motor including installation, seems in line with typical repairs/mods for other motors.

Maybe the (now-defunct) OMC gang can quote some prices for burnt computers, busted lower units, re-flashing stuff, indexing sparkplugs, etc ?

You are quite right, I read it right too, but wrote it wrong - sorry. I don't begrudge the $300 per motor for an upgrade for parts & labor, I was just trying to inform Yamaha users that some, even Yamaha dealers, are questioning the absolute for this on-engine (and redundant) filter.

Good points about OMC ... granted.

But we should all worry ... as George Soros and his gang of ultra-liberals want to do to this country what he did to OMC  !

Here's a deal for ya...you get rid of that gang and in return, I'll un-bolt my trusty Yamaha and buy and bolt on the E-Tech of your choice!

OK?
