Can't help as I run an OX66, but I would be interested in seeing the feedback that you get. :)

I buy the yamaha 4 stroke oil. I have a good yamaha dealer at the local marina that i like and he is very good at giving me information and having all the parts needed for the oil changes and other maintenace and even takes the time to take apart an engine he has to show me. It might be a little more but its worth it to me. Plus depending on who you ask some say marine oil is different than car oil. He also recomended that i start using 20w - 40 so thats what im doing now.

Yamaha oil and Ring Free at 1 oz per 15 gals. My F150s run great and I don't worry about warranty issues. Getting too old to bob and weave.

Everything that goes in or on my motor is Yamaha. Still under warranty and don't want any excuses from Yamaha if I have a major failure. I'm sure any good 4 stroke oil that meets the specifications would be fine.

Only YAMAHA oil and filters !!! I have read a lot about the sythetics and the big name aftermarkets marketing campaigns (Royal Purple, Lucas, etc).
But in this case "I am going to dance with the one that brought me".

Did you ever see a synthetic oil come out of the ground while you lived in Texas? Yamaha concentrates on what they do best. That is why they have a major oil company blend a oil to their specifications. In this case Four Stroke outboard engines. I have never seen Yamaha oil being recommended for anything else. Im not doggin Mobil One, I have seen it recommended by BMW, Mercedes, and Chrysler for their performance vehicles. But if Yamaha wanted Mobil One in their engines they to would recommend it or have it put in their oil containers. I have never seen Mobil One for outboards, although I have seen it for Big V Twin motorcycles, Diesels, and performance vehicles.

I didn't mean to insult Yamaha 4S oil. I am sure it is excellent. For all I know they could be putting special additives to Mobil One in their bottles. For sure, Yamaha oil will obviously meet all warranty requirements.

FWIW: I found the following question is posted on the Mobil One site.

From the Mobil One site >

Will You Make Mobil 1 for 4-Stroke Outboards?
I use Mobil 1 in everything I own: two trucks, a John Deere mower, a Honda power washer, and a Mud Buddy boat motor.... I also own a Honda 130 HP 4-stroke outboard motor; I have been using Mobil 1 10W-30. Can I use that? When will Mobil make synthetic oil for 4-stroke outboards? We want one!!!

Answer:
We are always looking at new Mobil 1 product grades so we appreciate your suggestion for an Outboard Mobil 1 product. In the meantime, depending on the grade and quality recommended for your outboard, we would expect Mobil 1 10W-30 to provide excellent protection.

Sir, I highly respect everyone on this site and would never take a stab at anyone. There is always two sides of every debate. I personally use Mobil One in my 3500 Silverado tow vehicle. And for the price of Yamaha oil I can certainly buy Mobil One and have change leftover. But for the marine environment, warranty issues, and my own personal type of use I am sticking with Yamaha. Not to get off subject but I also use only Harley Davidson's brand oil and filters in my 2003 Electraglide. They have spent a lot of time formulating it for high heat and wear applications. However I will say that in my 35 years in the automotive mechanical industry that you can use almost any oil and filter and change it regularly you will greatly reduce any chances of engine failure.
