My prt and starboard windows are leaking. The dealer said that Parker is going to send new foam to see if this will stop the leak. Its only a month old. Has anyone had this problem?
Something isn't right. You need to see your dealer about this.
An '09 is still under warranty, so you should be able to get them taken care of without incident.
Tighten the screw inside the clip which holds the window, there is not enough pressure on the window to compress make it water tight.I had this issue with mine right away, one qucik turn with a screwdriver an never leaked again.
Had the same problem. Remove the windows and caulk completely with silicone on both the inside of the frame and the inside of the window cut out. On mine the cutout was done poorly (too large in spots ) thus preventing a good seal. If you go back to the dealer don't let them just calk the outside. That is just a temporary fix.
Ain't that the truth! After another dealer repaired my headliner I had to peel it back once again and do it myself, was the same thing with my other boat as well.
Yamaha had a repair bulletin out on this. The air intake has baffles that seperate any water that gets into the air intake on top of the cowling and drains through hoses to the mid section of the engine. Take the cowling off and look inside and you will see what I mean. The baffles wern't sealed properly allowing water to drip on the engine.
Good luck
Ray
thanks i was lookinh at the cowling...i sprayed water up in the intake with the garden hose and the top of the engine gets soaked..i know it needs some room to breath...just cant see how its spraying perfectly on the right side though...i will check out the bulletin thanks.
Pull the windows and calk them. I had the same issie when I pulled the window you could see about two inches where there was no calking from the factory. Not worth taking to the dealer IMHO
I think he was asking about windows...not air intakes to the Yamiguchi.
When you caulk, use silicone or 3M 4000. Do NOT use 3M 5200 or 4200...that might be too permanent should you need to remove and recaulk in the future.
I'm becoming partial to 3M 4000...it sticks like the stickiest bugger but can be removed if necessary. That appears to be what Parker used to install my windlass...and it looks like it is what Parker used to bed the other deck hardware.
