I have a problem with the horn on my Parker. It doesn’t work. I thought it was a bad switch. I checked the switch for power and had power to one side. I then had someone push the button and got nothing on the other side. Bad switch right? I thought so. I went and got a new switch and got the same thing. Hmmmm…..
Now I try taking the wire that I know has power and touching it to the wire on the other side. I was thinking this should at least sound the horn. Nope.. Nothing. .. I looked around for a relay but I have not found anything. Is there any known problems with the horns on the Parkers? I am not that great with electronics so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Never had a problem with my horn yet but i remember reading that someone sprayed some lubricant into the opening and it started working again. Its an electric horn so theres a good chance that with salt water getting in it it went bad.

All electric horns have a weakness. If water gets into the horn, and doesn't get out, it'll corrode the back vibration plate. You can try opening the horn up, and draining the water. Chances are, you'll need to replace the horn. Its pretty simple, just 2 wires and some screws. Remember to use adhesive-lined heatshrink or crimps on the wiring

My OEM horn quit and I replaced it with another OEM horn. It died in a year so I replaced it with an Ongaro 100% SS horn. That has worked flawlessly for three years. Now it doesn't work again. I traced it down to a broken wire coming out of the aluminum tube supporting the hard top. The chafing was bad enough to cause a short and blow the fuse.

Fixing this is on the top of my to-do list this spring.

May want to check the continuity of the wires leaving the switch to the wires exiting the tubing going to the horn.

Not sure when they started using them as OEM factory items, but the Ongaro horns replaced the AFI's on Parker boats some time ago.

What I'd really like to have up top is a train horn!

I get into trouble everytime I go to Defender.
But I need a new horn for the FishPimp.

Thanks for the stimulous!

I noticed on my 2007 2120 that Parker has moved the electric roof horns to the aft end of the roof. Maybe to help keep out spray or maybe just a shorter wire run with the new roof wire alleyway.

I added the air Seige Hammer 4 train horns to my roof and they get attention. Small air compressor in my pilot house and small air storage tank, air solenoid in the roof under the horn, and I wired in a lighted switch to see when the air compressor is on line. Fun to blow the electric and the air at the some time...............Pete

John_Madison CT, thanks for the heads up on the horns at Defender. Ordered one today as my horn has been DOA for a while now. Never heard of Defender before, I will be checking out there catalogs now.

Thanks again,

Horns without periodic rinsing don't go as long, lot of old threads on this.

Mine last more with being on slip than mooring, not wave hopping as much.

1996 boat, failed before 2001. Put same dual horn A-23 in, failed in a year, went single horn in 2002 and angled it downward with a wedge.

Gave up decibels but same horn still in.

1 1/2" high rear, 1" high front wedge that horn is mounted on.

Excellent horn Pete! I've been considering a train horn for some time. :)

That horn looks like a Stebel repackaged under a different brand.

I have that horn on my motorcycle. 138dbs!!!

Don't be texting and pull alongside me!!!!

I made a mistake on my comment on how I got around horns failing.

I had a two horn AFI, with the front mount support as well like many of you.

I went to a two horn without the front support from them and I was able to angle it down on the cabin top with the wedge.

Here is a view of it. As I mentioned I gave up loudness.

You can still see the same screw hole where the front trumpet support used to be.

Megabyte - are your horns still going? Considering the Ongaro's for replacement on the 2530.

Yep. Still going. 8)

I'm debating wether to mount them back in the same location or put them up on the radar tower facing down, haven't decided yet.

My father has a 1979 40' Ocean, his horns are mounted on the front of the bridge facing down at about a 45 degree angle.
They have been there for over 30 years and still work fine. Granted they are air horns but I'm sure the downward angle helps.

We'll see, hope to make it through the rest of the season with the one I got.
