I just found this site and have spent hours reading as much info as I can. We have a house on the back of Bogue sound and need a shallow draft family/ fishing boat. Most of the 2 mile cross is 3-4 feet but I do need to cross a 15" x 75 yard section at low tide. Anybody running a jack plate on their SE's? Parker states a draft of 10", what is the real draft with gear, people and fuel?

I have found an old 1986 Sou'wester 21 and am thinking I could use it as an interim boat and run it a few seasons to make sure a Parker is the boat we want. Lots of glassworks has been done, now floor, gel coat, transom filled and bracket added. I was told the stringers looked good and the tank was still covered with foam so it was not replaced. This is a huge red flag for me, how can someone do all that work and not pull the 25+ year old tank to have a look. The motor is a 1998 Evenrude Ocean Pro 200 that was rebuilt last year (not a Fitch). I am going to look at it Wednesday and want to know what to look for. I have had boats all my life but can't tell the difference between good and bad glass work. What should I look for?
Thanks,
Tim

If there hasn't been water intrusion into the tank space, and the foam is dry, that tank could last forever with proper venting and care.
That might be why it was not pulled, but yes... if I was doing that much work on a boat, it would be a consideration of mine.

Those Evinrude Ocean Pro motors are carb'ed and thirsty, but practically bulletproof. I had a 2000 model on my previous boat.
When you say it was 'rebuilt', do you know exactly what that entails?

If the price it right, that could make for a nice skinny water boat.
