I am going to add a SeaStar power assist steering unit to a 2320 ph.
My question is has any one added this to there boat and where did you mount the the assist unit. A assist unit was not offered as a option for a 23 ft boat when I bought te boat, this should help when my daughters pilot the boat out.

Should be able to mount it behind the helm or somewhere in the berth area since the 23 doesnt have an enclosed back of the helm. I was looking into getting it but cost alot of money. Do you feel its that hard to turn the wheel with the single on it? You could always get a larger diameter wheel if you didnt want to spend the money on that unit.

Yes that is a chunk of change. But I think in the long run it will help in paying for itself. I was also wondering if I did install it at the helm the noise of the pump. Installing it on the transom by removing that panel
in the back seems closer to the battery and I an thinking there is enought room there. Thank for the advice BradV

I would try to keep something like that $$ wise out of the bilge area or anywhere moisture can really be on it. It is electronics afterall. The noise from the pump will be some but not anything overly obnoxious. You can always mount it inside the cabin under the gunnel besides the captains chair then mount a pices of starboard with an access panel and carpet it to make it look like it came from the factory plus it would help cut down on the noise from the pump and still protect it from being outside. My buddy with a 2320 mounted his amp in this fashion. This is also where i have my control boxes mounted for my dual stations.
