To tidy up the stern area, I want to enclose the hoses etc between the starboard stern box and the engine (Yam 150 HPDI). As part of this I was thinking about (replacing) moving the original primer bulb (2002) into the bilge area, it would be near the 10 micron fuel-water filter. This is part of a larger project of replacing almost everything between the gas tank and engine, e.g. fuel lines, low pressure pumps, and all filters.

1. Any downside to moving the primer bulb to this location? It occurred to me this would increase the distance between the primer bulb and engine by about 5 feet, but doesn't seem like that should matter if the bulb is doing its job.

2. Does someone have a good source for the black ~2 inch plastic hose to enclose the lines? I want a "split" hose, not interested in disconnecting all the hoses and threading them, that might be beyond my pay grade, and no interest in paying 1 hr labor (or more) to have it done.

Thanks Gentlemen.

Bryce

I moved my primer bulb to that starboard rear locker (also houses the oil tank and fuel management sender) when i redid all the rigging last season. I went with the Yamaha rigging grommet/hose. It's very straightforward to re-rig the engine and looks great when finished. I have all the TH Marine part #'s if you decide to do it. I went with what Parker uses currently on the 21se.

You'll be just fine moving the primer bulb. Do you have the rigging fitting on the motor so that the 2in rigging hose slips over it?

Bryce asked about the part numbers I used, so I figured I would post it here in case anyone else wants to do this on an older Parker. I got the idea after going to the boat show in the off-season and seeing how the factory rigged the new boats.

Part numbers are all TH Marine

You will also need a section of 3in rigging tube and the appropriate Yamaha rigging adapter for your model outboard.

You will go from a mess of wires on the deck to this.....

the fitting that is on the boat looks weird. Does the rigging hose just fall thru it?

The TH Marine units have a left hand thread and the hose threads into the fitting.

ALERT........ Do not buy the TH Marine Chrome ones. They look like crap in 2yrs and are all tarnished. been there done that.

This setup is different than their standard hose/rigging kits. The first part number is the boot. This installs facing into the locker and the trim ring goes on top of that (the part you see) facing out (it all gets thru-bolted as one unit). The rigging tube slides into the boot snugly on the locker side and threads into the grommet on the engine side. This is exactly how they rig the current 21se at the factory.

A picture may make more sense :D
