I have a question for all, what do you do/how do you store your propane canisters for like Buddy Heater, Mini Propane stove , BBQ 'S we have two different sizes cans, one is short and fat and one is shaped like a can of spray paint, I have seen all different ways to hang off the back of a sail boat, and we have kept them in side the pilot house, but I got to thinking now that we have to carry two different size cans, what is the best way/safest way to keep them on the boat, just looking for maybe a safer way ?
Thanks
Craig

I keep them in a plastic tub container in my helm seat box.

Probably not the safest but it keeps them from getting punctured by other equipment.

In this pic here you can see a Magma brand propane bottle bag hanging off the bow rail on the port side.

I myself would NEVER store them in the cabin on under the deck! The pressure relief valve/port on those small bottles are prone to give way under the heat of HOT summer days. Combine that with propane being heavier than air ... and a source of ignition ... and you could be the 1st boat offshore the hard way  !

Always store propane outside out of direct sunlight. I have a cream colored aluminum 10lb tank that sits under my gunnel in front of my rear station. If you have small 2lb tanks that screw on the device remove the tank when not in use. I only keep propane on the boat when needed and remove it to a safe outdoor storage place when not in use.

On the back of our boat, it is a 2006, there is that storage/fish hold/ sort of ice storage area with drain hole overboard, on each side, port and starboard there is a drop in plastic bin, funny, it fits 4 perfect fat small cans and it also fits 6 perfect spray paint can size perfect, the lid closes, and they are out of direct sun light, I just came home for lunch, it is pretty hot here, we are close to the beach, so it is not bakein, I checked inside the bins where I put the cannastes and it is cool, so maybe I have the perfect spot, I will take a pic and show you ! The thing is we are heading out for 8 days of fishing and just relaxing at the Islands, we will need alot of propane, but maybe we will just take what we can safely carry and buy more over there if we need it. Alot more money over there, but way safer !
