In my slip on a lift, my stainless propeller faces all passing boaters about a foot out of the water as it seems to invite someone to steal it. I also am concerned about the prop when I am trailering.

On the forum I saw references to McGard so after some research, I bought a McGard Prop Lock for my Yammie 150 HP 4s from Bob's Machine Shop

http://www.bobsmachine.com/products/loc ... nDrive.cfm

for $44.95.

To install it I removed the Yammie cotter pin, nut and washer. I slipped on the McGard washer facing the correct direction. Then, using a torque wrench with a socket and the McGard socket "key" I screwed on the McGard security lock and torqued it to 50 lbs. Popped on the round plastic protective cover on the security lock and it was on. Maybe ten minutes.

I did order a spare socket "key" from McGard (about $23) because it would be a bear to get the thing cut off without a key. The order also registered me with McGard in case I need a key in the future.

I have no $ interest in McGard, but I could not find anything else that appeared as good. The machining on the lock and the key are very good and complicated processes.

..........Pete
