Chesapeake Bay deadrise docking contests at their finest..

Who wants to be the mate on the last boat

40' boats with single inboards

That's a dedicated mate!!!

I still take it slow and steady. Except when the tide is riping, the river running and wind blowing.........

Ya just have to go for it.

The mate is a sefety man. They also have a team event where the captain has 2 mates. The captain runs the boat where the other 2 guys tie up the boat. Years ago they only had a singles competition. I watched a captain fall overboard with the boat still in gear. There was one line on the piling that kept the boat from running away. My brother-inlaw competes each year in Crisfield and Salisbury, Md. He can put his 40' Robbins in the slip and never bump a piling in around 35 seconds. These guys are good. Go down to Crisfield, Md. on Labor Day weekend and you can see the waterman show their stuff.
