I just got this boat and it has a foil/wing on the lower unit of a yamaha f150TXR. The prop was damaged in shipping so I had a new stock one ordered (15 degree pitch). Is the foil to my advantage (e.g., feul consumption, quick out of the hole, etc.) ? Is there a better prop for units with a foil? Is aluminum better than Steel? This was supposed to just asimple question but is snowballed on me. Any insight would be nice. Thank you :| e.j.

It should be pretty easy to take the foil off. If you want to plane at slower speeds and plane quicker than the foil is great. If you want to run as fast as you can get rid of it. Try it both ways. If you are running a 15 on a 21 foot boat you might see a little difference in the aluminum and steel props but not as much as a bigger boat because of the size. If you are happy with it thne leave it alone if you feel like tinkering call ken at propgods and pay him 35 bucks to send you props that may work and test them out.
