We have a new 2005 2520SL. The dealer told us this particular boat was built on an XL hull (16*) with an SL cabin. I noticed yesterday that the capacity plate says that the hull is a 2520 DVSC, indicating a deep vee.

I was out in the bay yesterday in some sloppy chop, about 3 feet of all fast whitecaps. The boat didn't pound once. Also took a large wake from a 36 footer at about 22mph and the boat just mushed into it nicely, not a single pounding, leading me to think it may actually be a DV and not the 16* hull. Any way I can tell for certain while the boat is in the water (can't put an angle guage on the keel right now), just out of curiousity?

Thanks.

My boat has no flat under the drain plug, and one lifting strake. Does the 16* hull look similar to the MV in that respect? Is the 16* also a MV?

The 16 degree is the "compromise", as opposed to the old 14 degree MVSC. A Captain running his MVSC properly will have that boat running smoother than a dolt running his 2520SL. I just can't see the 2 degrees making that much a difference.

I don't think they make the MVSC anymore. The 16 degree replacements were introduced to mitigate the "pounding" complaints of the MVSC owners. I think minimizing the pounding has more to do with the forward nature of the helm (can't do anything about that), better tabs, and proper captaining.

I was out yesterday, had a beautiful day at Tices Shoal, and Barnegat Bay n the way home was a washing machine. Congested boat traffic and a stiff wind made for a crazy chop. We just slowed it down and enjoyed the blue skies and the ride.

Just a follow up, after a couple emails to parker and back, we've determined that the incorrect capacoty plate was applied to this hull. The are sending me the correct sticker. At least I can use the old (incorrect) plate as a decoration at my desk at work now. :)
