I purchased my first boat this past winter (18 CC) and I went to fill her up today and had what I am hoping is a benign problem. I tried to refill her tank and added the Startron and about 18 gallon in fuel started leaking out of the overfill. My wife was at the helm looking at the fuel gage and she told me it was still blinking empty as it was before I started. I had only put it 18 gallons of a 64 gallon tank and it was saying it was empty but fuel coming out of the overfill. I filled it up at the local gas station if this helps. I am hoping that I am missing something and it’s not a sign of something more. Any help with this is appreciated in advance

My guess is that you have corrosion on the wires connected to your fuel sending unit, or that the sensor itself could be bad.

Pop open the deck plate that is over top of your tank and you should be able to see the connections right on top of the tank.
It should look something like this.
Note... Just pop out the center of the pie-plate, don't remove it from the deck.
The photo below was taken during my rebedding project. That's why it has been removed.

Clean up the connections with a little emory cloth and hopefully that will solve the problem.
If it does not, we might need to look a little further.
