One thing that has been bugging me a bit since I bought the boat is the capacity plate is faded and almost illegible. It's a pretty minor detail, but the plate is mounted right on the dash and I see it every time I stand at the wheel. The 1700 model is long out of production, so getting another plate from Parker is a no-go.

However, I found a source online that makes replacement decals in a variety of formats. You enter the details off your current plate, and they ship a vinyl decal to you. I just ordered mine, total cost was $20 with free shipping. Here's the link: Boat capacity sticker replicas | GarzonStudio.com

I intend to install this over the current aluminum plate on the dash. That way, it looks better and the information is still visible, and if for whatever reason I get questioned about the information in the future (given that it is a replica) I can peel off the vinyl to expose the original plate underneath.

I'll update with pictures once the product arrives.

Great idea; however, if you ever have the pull the vinyl sticker off, it will probably pull whatever ink is left on the old data plate with it.
Yeah, I thought about that. As a backup I have pictures of the old one, I guess that will have to suffice. Much more time in the sun and elements and it'll be illegible anyway.
