In need of opinions on what material to replace my 23 year old aluminum
fuel tanks. What material would be better Aluminum that lasted 23 years or plastic ? My old gas tanks failed due to corrosion at sending units and water that infiltradated foam from deck . The existing foam seems to be open celled, holds a bit of water. Deck has small soft spot near fuel feed in between tanks and at helm. Would like to replace and have new deck and tanks last the rest of my life.Any opinions?

Replace with aluminum but coat it with Coal Tar Epoxy before you install it.

Also vent the deck if you can.

+1 !

If i ever have to do fuel tanks i will put 2 in with independent lines and sending units with a manual cross over and vale system..........

Reason one better baffeling ability
Reason two better weight/ballasting distribution....
Reason three if one were to fail or get contaminated i can use other
Reason 4 i can make one tank an inshore less capacity, while larger off shore can be filled with less..... as a reserve....!!!
just a thought !!!
