so i checked the gasket on the rear bilge hatch this weekend, and it is LONG past needing to be replaced. the only problem is, i dont know what gasket it needs or where to get it. its the original hatch from Parker, 1995 vintage, you know, the one with the single indented latch in the center that never seems to shut well :? . anyone have any suggestions?

Take the gasket from the hatches in the vee berth, should be the same and those don't need to be water tight.

I have a 2120PH and I took the one from the bench seat on the port side and traded the entire hatch cover and along with it were the gasket in new condition.

My hatch leaked and it felt like jello to walk on. I tried to stiffen the hatch without luck. Then I saw a Beckson hatch on sale that fit my Tempress cutout perfectly for $49.50 at:

It does not feel like jello to walk on and is a much better hatch than I had. Not a perfect color match, but I am happy and the bilge is dry................Pete

I'll do you one better ... as when I bought my old girl, I rotated a complete hatch from the V-berth to the stern, all with new caulk/sealant/goop.

Then even the hatch itself looked "good as new" ;) !

Here is a photo of the factory hatch with hidden screws that bows in when stood on and just felt weak to me. The other photo is the new Beckson that dropped into the same cut out and has no bow - it is rock solid. Looks like both have hidden screws and no real difference in height above the deck...............Pete

Bilge is clean because that is the day I bought the boat new. Last time it looked that good. Funny how that always seems to happen?...............Pete
