Lots of knowledge here on this site. I am looking at repowering my 99 DV 2520 notched transom sometime in the hopefully not so near future but want to know what would be the best option. Eric at Parker said a 300HP single would be the max for my transom. My existing 4S Yamaha F250 still runs very well but is nearing 2000 hours so its just a matter of time. I fish off shore a bit but not crazy...trip from Newport RI area to Block Island or from Cape Cod Bay to Stellwagen Bank usually with 4 adults on board. I am thinking a single just for maintenance reasons but twins are not out of the question since I plan on keeping this boat for a long, long time. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Also a computer question, every time I try to post a pic on this site I cannot because the file is too large. I take a pic with my iphone and email it to myself but just cant post it. Any ideas or help?

Can't offer an opinion about the outboard, but when e-mailing a photo from your iphone, it typically offers a few different choices for file size. Once you've got the photo, I believe that it needs to be uploaded and stored at a hosting service like Photobucket from which you can then link it here. If it's on photobucket, I think it auto re-sizes anyway... And from the photobucket site, you can get the address for that particular image to insert when you hit the 'Img' tab above the reply box. Click on the gear icon on the thumbnail of the photobucket image, select 'get links' and copy and paste 'direct' link. ( Just realized it sounds way more confusing than it is to actually do.)

As for the computer try downloading the Tapatalk app.....it allows me to get notifications and upload pics right from my phone without any problems.....Classic Parker forum is listed when you search for a group to join.

You're crazy :) ... as is you have maybe just turned 50% of its service life! FWIW my brothers 1987 Yummie XP-150s (yes, dirty 2-strokes) are still running strong. How many hours a season do you average? I bet you still have a long life left in that puppy.

Well a single Suzuki DF250 would be the best for your boat. You'll get phenomenal cruising economy too. She might go ~4mph slower than a Yam 300hp, but without high octane fuel, that 300 Yam (or the 250) doesn't make the stated 300 HP anyway. As is we lose 10% with ethanol-based fuels, and then add in another 10-15% or more loss when not running high octane fuel and ... well, IMHO there are much better performing motors than Yams.

When I priced out motors, as I had repowered 3-seasons ago, I saved a good ~$6K off the price of the 250 yam and $12K off the price of the Yam 300 4-stroke by repowering to the Suzuki. With the 16" diameter props they use, plus with the PowerTech 4-blade pros available now, I can run same RPMs with 10 adults aboard as I do with 2 adults aboard, and I lose maybe 1-2mph. My boat can jump up on plane with no tabs and no trimming in.

FYI the local Boat/US towing service up here runs 14 DF250 Suzukis and hasn't had 1 issue ... not 1 blown injector, no VST filters to clog and fail, and no low pressure and high pressure pumps to fail. Nada, not one issue.
